Introduction
Arriving in a new country for treatment can feel stressful. That is why we take care of the practical side of your arrival. This page covers how to get there, what to prepare, what happens when you land and a few things that are good to know about Moldova.
Getting there
According to published flight schedules, a direct flight from Amsterdam to Chișinău operated by Fly One takes about 2 hours 50 minutes and ran three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) at the time of writing. Schedules change, so check the current timetable before you plan anything. Otherwise you connect in another city. Tell us your flight details once you have booked, and we plan the rest.
Before you fly
- Check the current entry requirements for your nationality on your government's official travel advice. They can change.
- Moldova is not part of the EU, so check what your insurance covers abroad, including planned treatment. You can use your own policy, or we can help you arrange travel insurance through our partner insurer HanseMerkur (see below).
- Pack your passport or ID, your medication list, any medical records and the written treatment plan from the clinic.
- Save the contact details of AxiomMed and of the clinic on your phone.
Travel insurance
We can help you arrange travel insurance through our partner insurer HanseMerkur. The cover, conditions and price are set by the insurer and depend on your trip and the policy you choose, so please read the policy documents carefully before you agree. You are also free to use your own insurance. Ask us what options are available and we will point you in the right direction.
Airport pickup
We arrange a transfer from the airport to your hotel, and later between your hotel and the clinic. Tell us your flight details and we plan the rest.
Your hotel
We book a four-star hotel in central Chișinău for your stay and can look at your needs, such as mobility or a companion.
Good to know about Moldova
- Moldova lies between Romania and Ukraine. Its capital and largest city is Chișinău.
- Romanian is the official language. Russian is also widely spoken.
- The currency is the Moldovan leu (MDL).
- The time zone is UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer, which is one hour ahead of the Netherlands.
Support during your stay
We stay in contact with you and with the clinic during your stay. Your treatment and medical decisions are handled by the clinic's doctors.
Going home
When the doctor gives the green light after your final check, we arrange your transfer back to the airport. After that, we stay in contact with the doctors for up to 2 months in case you have questions.
