Introduction
Recovery is an important part of any medical trip. Healing does not stop when you leave the clinic, so where you stay afterwards matters. After your treatment, AxiomMed arranges a four-star hotel in central Chișinău for your recovery, close to the clinic. This page explains how the days after treatment usually work, what to prepare and what to ask your doctor.
The first days
The first days after an operation are usually spent in the hospital. After that you move to a hotel, where the focus is on rest. The length of the monitoring period depends on your procedure and is decided by your doctor. During this period you cannot fly.
At the hotel
The hotel is in the centre of Chișinău, close to the clinic, so you do not have far to go for appointments. We stay in contact with you and with the clinic, and if something is unclear, you can ask us and we will pass the question on to the doctors.
What to bring
- Your medication list, and the clinic's written instructions for your recovery.
- Comfortable, loose clothing that is easy to put on.
- Your travel documents and the contact details of the clinic and of AxiomMed.
- A phone charger and something to read or watch, because there will be quiet hours.
Questions for your doctor before you leave the clinic
- How much should I move, and what should I avoid?
- Which medication do I take, and when?
- What can I eat and drink?
- Which signs mean I should contact the clinic, and how do I reach them?
- When exactly is my final check?
Your doctor knows your procedure, so follow those answers over any general advice, including ours.
The final check
If you have no complaints after a few days in the hotel, the doctor sets a date for a last check. This check is free of charge as part of the post-op check. After the green light you can fly home.
If you travel with someone
If you bring a companion, tell us in advance so we can look at accommodation that suits you both.
After you are home
Once you are back in the Netherlands, AxiomMed stays in contact with the doctors for up to 2 months, in case you have questions.
Every treatment carries risks and recovery differs per person. Follow your doctor's advice. This article is general information, not medical advice.
